Samdrup Jongkhar is South Eastern Dzongkhag of Bhutan bordering with Assam and Arunachal Pradesh states of India. It is 185 kms, 4 hours drive from Guwahati airport in India and 180 kms, 7 hours drive from Trashigang. The region lies on subtropical range with elevations ranging from 200 m to 3,500 m above sea level.
Often referred to as Phuentsholing’s little sister due to the similarity in architectural style and the fact that both towns are on the border with India, Samdrup Jongkhar has a mix of very clean and pleasant places with an eclectic mixture of Bhutanese and Indian shops, restaurants and hotels, so it is worth a look around if visiting the area.
